Since about 70 percent of the earth’s surface is covered in water, the underwater environment offers unique photo opportunities. The environment can be colorful, majestic, threatening, and/or inspiring. Members of the Redlands Underwater Photography Club will give this fascinating presentation.
As experienced divers with cumbersome photo equipment that resists damage from water and pressure, our presenters have travelled the world to enjoy and photograph reefs, kelp beds, shipwrecks, and more. They will share some of their photos and a few strategies based on the physics of diving and the camera and strobe settings required.
Zoom meeting opens at 6:30 pm for a social time before the presentation. Visitors are always welcome.

Susan has been a scuba diver for more than 50 years. She began taking underwater photos in the 1970’s, the era of film and flash bulbs. She was a SCUBA instructor for 35 years and has dived in many global locations. With a science background, she developed an interest in photography to both document and share the underwater environment with family and friends. Later her interests in photography expanded to include nature “above water” as well as below.

Tony has been scuba diving for 30+ years. He first developed an interest in underwater photography during a dive trip to Saint Lucia, where he rented a Nikonos and took his first photos. Many cameras later, he is now shooting underwater with his Cannon Mark 5, using a special housing and strobes. Recently his diving has focused on the “Golden Triangle” of diving in Indonesia, particularly Raja Ampat and Sulawesi. Tony is also a land photographer and has been an intermittent attendee at the Redlands Camera Club.
