Carved at Descanso Gardens is an annual, family-friendly Halloween event held every October. This isn’t your usual scary, haunted house event. Instead, you’ll find a transformation of the mile-long loop of the botanical gardens into an atmospheric, glow-in-the-dark autumn trail.

Event Highlights

  • Pumpkin Trail & Sculptures: 1000s of illuminated jack-o’-lanterns line the pathways, alongside giant hand-carved gourds, a pumpkin house.
  • Interactive Light & Sound: Features interactive light-up floor pads under oak trees, the glowing Rhizome rope-art installation, and night rides on the illuminated Descanso Railroad.
  • Cultural & Artistic Touches: Includes a detailed Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) ofrenda altar near the entry and chainsaw-carved wood sculptures along the route.

Wer’re planning to attend Carved at Descanso Gardens on Tuesday, October 20th, from 6:00-10:00 pm. Carpooling is highly recommended.

As a Descanso Gardens member, I’m able to purchase discounted tickets for $33 per adult and $23 for children, (compared with the regular non-member price of $85). The dates tend to fill up quickly, so I’ll be reserving our tickets soon.
