In-Person and Zoom Meeting – Cheryl Diermyer

In this engaging presentation, photographers are introduced to the art and practice of digital storytelling—an approach that transforms images into powerful, multi-dimensional narratives. Participants will explore how to write a compelling story, then learn about the process and tools for weaving together audio, text, narration, movement, and photographs to create a dynamic final piece. Examples of digital storytelling clients will be shared, illustrating how clients across diverse fields have used digital stories to connect with audiences and create lasting impact.

Digital storytelling is also a meaningful avenue for capturing personal histories, reflecting on personal growth, and sharing life’s milestones. Digital stories can make for heartfelt gifts—especially during the upcoming holidays—offering a unique way to preserve memories and honor loved ones.

Visitors are always welcome.

Both our In-person and Zoom meetings open at 6:30 pm for a social time before the presentation.

Presented by Cheryl Diermyer

As a CBS News Video Journalist Cheryl would capture the stories within the motion of every day and share these stories with a worldwide audience. Today, that same deep attention and reverence for following the thread to where the meaning lives and where the spirit shines infuses her photography and digital storytelling. For several years she enjoyed her career in higher education as a teaching professor and an Associate Director of Education Innovation. Her certification in digital storytelling from the StoryCenter in Berkeley, CA was a pivotal experience as it reminded Cheryl that photography is a central part of who she is. She returned to her first passion, the visual image and the stories within. People and their stories are at the heart of what draws her to photography.
